The day after we arrived, we drove around Chch city centre to see damages of the earthquake.
I have seen worse images but I never seen anything like those in my own eyes.
Very sadly most of historic buildings are collapsed or partly collapsed. They are likely to be domolished as it is too costly to restore.
These photos are from Chch famous picturesque garden "Mona Vale"
Although they looked still beautifull, a lot parts of the garden were not maintained. Here all the lovely old buildings were damaged,too.
クライストチャーチに到着した翌日に、市内の地震の爪痕を見に行ってきました。
まだまだ市の中心部は閉鎖されていて、本当に被害のひどいところには近づけないのですが、それでもテレビの映像などでなく自分の目で地震の惨状を見るのは初めてでした。古い建物がことごとく被害を受けていて、ほとんどが壊されてしまうこかと思うと残念でなりません。
庭の写真はモナ・ベールのもの。住んでいたころにはよく通いました。
ものすごくよく手入れされていた庭がいまではだいぶ荒れてしまっています。写真ではまだまだ美しいですが。
ここでも古い建物がすべて一部崩壊していました。
