Walking at Noosa national park

A beautiful sunny winter Sunday.
We went to Noosa national park with meet up members today.
It was easy but scenic walk: The first half walk, we walked through bush, and the other half we walked along the coast with several beautiful beaches.  Very quiet, gentle waves, and clear water.
We didn't spend any time on beaches this time, so we have to come back to Noosa again.


快晴の冬の日曜日。
ハイキンググループのメンバーとヌサ国立公園に行ってきました。
とっても楽だけど、景色のよいウォーキングでした。
最初の半分はブッシュの中を歩き、残りの半分はきれいなビーチの点在する海岸線を歩きました。
とても静かで波は穏やか、そして透明な海水。
今回はビーチで過ごす時間がなかったので、またヌサに来なくっちゃ。

今年の1月にヌサに来た時は、ちょうど洪水のあとで海の色が茶色くって全然きれいじゃなくて、ヌサって皆が絶賛する割にこんなもんなんだと思ってたけど、やっぱりすごく素敵なとこでした～。

Charity bazzar by Japanese club of Brisbane

When we arrived at Indooroopilly high school at 2pm, most of the food were already sold out and I couln't find any books or other household stuff I liked to buy.

So I jsut bought this Yomogi seedling and came back.

I am not very good at looking after plants, I hope this Yomogi survives.


日本人会主催のチャリティバザーの会場に到着したのが２時、そしたら食べ物はほとんど売り切れだし、買いたい本や日用品などもなくなってしまっていたーー。

だから、最後にひとつ残っていたヨモギの苗を買って帰ってきました。

植物を育てるの、あんまり得意じゃないけど、なんとか育って欲しいなぁ。

Mimosa- Silver wattle - Acacia dealbata

Right now, I see these flowers everywhere in Brisbane.
These shrubs are native to Australia, that's why so many of them.
They are really pretty. I didn't notice these trees at all last year though.


最近、ブリスベンのいたるところでこの黄色の花を見かけます。
オーストラリアに原生する植物だそう。なるほどどうりでそこら中にあるわけです。
ふわふわしててとってもかわいい。去年の今頃はすでにブリスベンに住んでたけど、全然気づかなかったなぁ。

ちなみに日本人はミモザというけど、英語ではマイモサというみたい。
イケアのことをアイキアと発音するのと同じぐらい変（笑）

ミモザというと本来はオジギソウのことしめすようです。英語でも本来のMimosaと区別するために、Silver wattleという別の名前で呼ばれることもあります。

My friend's visit to my house

My friend said it's ok to use her photo, so here she is!

She is from near my home town in Aich, she also used to live in Chch. NZ. and now she lives only 5min drive from my home. Today, she came to my house to have her bag repaired. But it was too difficult to use sewing machine, so I just glued the strap instead of sewing. I hope it doesn't come off.

I always love to see her unique and cute fashion, which really suits her.

お友達がブログに載せてもよいと言ったので、ばっちり載せちゃいました。

彼女は私と同じ愛知出身で、彼女もクライストチャーチに住んでいたことがあり、今は車で5分ぐらいのとこに住んでます。今日は彼女の壊れたバッグを私が直すことになっていたんだけど、とってもミシンをかけずらい場所で（ミシンしても厚地過ぎてちゃんと縫えたかは分からないけど）、結局工業用グルーでくっつけました。取れてこないといいんだけど～。

彼女はいつもキュートでユニークな恰好で楽しませてくれます。

超おしゃれさん。よく似合ってます。

Dinner with sister-in-law

We went to the city last night to meet sister-in-law and her friends, who came from Christchurch to have a holiday in Brisbane and Sunshine coast.

They have already eaten dinner but we didn't, so we just went to Groove train cafe which was situated across the street from the hotel she was staying. We saw her when we visited Christchurch last easter holiday, but it wa good to catch up with her. Lamb in Lamb souvlaki I ordered was extremely tender and nice. When I dine at restaurants, I often order red meat dishes which I can't cook very well at home.

We have lots of visitors this year. We had another sister-in-law's family in January, then her, next month my friend, then mother-in-law in September.


昨日の夜は、クライストチャーチからブリスベン・サンシャインコーストに遊びに来ている義理の姉とその友達に会うためシティまで行ってきました。

彼女たちはもう食事をすませていたので、ホテルの近くのGroove train cafeへ行ってきました。イースターホリデーでクライストチャーチに帰った時にも会っているのですが、今回会って元気そうな姿を見れて良かったです。ちなみにラム・スバラキをオーダーしたのですが、そのラムがすごくやわらかくておいしかった～。外食ではよく赤身の肉をオーダーします。家ではなかなかうまく料理できず、外で食べた方がおいしいので。

それにしても今年は訪問者の多い年です。１月には別の姉家族が、今月は昨日会った彼女、来月は私の友達、９月は義理の母。

Charity event finished successfully

Yesterday's charity event for the victims of Japan tsunami and earthquake finished successfully.
Momo san (click here for her blog) was not only an organizer of this event but a performer of mini concert and a conductor of choir.
She must have been extremely busy. I admire her efforts and an ability to take action.


こちらの日記では書いていませんでしたが、東日本大震災で被害を受けた子供たちを支援するチャリティイベントが昨日ブリスベンで行われ、無事終了しました。私は手作りの和雑貨販売を担当。（そちらについてはショップブログに書きます）

ももさんは、このイベントの主催者であるだけでなく、ミニコンサートで演奏をし、合唱団の伴奏、指揮もすべてこなし、どんなに忙しかっただろうと思います。その努力と実行力をつくづく尊敬します。
最後のコンサート、合唱では盛大な拍手が。被災者への思いが伝わる感動的な演奏、合唱でした。

Op shop find- Duralex glasses

There are two op shops near my house. One is RSPCA, and the other is run by church volunteers.

I go there occasionally to see if anything I like (often vintage stuff )
I just found these glasses for 50c each. The back says　DURALEX MADE IN FRANCE 22.
I am not sure what 22 means, but anyway, I thought these would be great as dessert cups as I don't have anything suitable at the moment.


家の近くに2つop shop（寄付されたものを販売するショップ。リサイクル品からビンテージ物までその時々でいろいろ置いてます。こんなものよく売ってるなというものもたくさん）があります。一つはRSPCA（動物愛護協会みたいな感じ）、もう一つは教会のボランティアが運営しているもの。

私は掘り出し物を探しに（たいていビンテージもの）時々見に行きます。
昨日はこの1個50セントのグラスを見つけました。刻印はDURALEX MADE IN FRANCE 22と書いてあります。22の意味が不明ですが、デザートカップにちょうどいい！と思ったわけです。

Morning walk

I started walking excersise (I jog half way) about 2-3 weeks ago  as I hardly did any excersise apart from occasional long hikes at weekend.

I do it just after eating breakfast.　In the morning, outside is a lot warmear than inside the house, but walking warms me up.

Right now, weather is really beautiful in the morning. I took some photos during my walk today.
There is a large park about 5min walk from my house. It's not the kind of park people picnic, but still
good place to walk, hear birds singing, get a fresh air and soak up sunshine.


2-3週間前から、ウォーキングエクサイズを始めました。（半分くらいはジョギングしてます）。というのも週末にときどき中長距離のハイキングをするものの、それ以外まったく運動をしていなかったから。

朝ごはん食べてすぐしてます。朝は家の中より外の方がずっと暖かく、歩いた後は体が温まります。

最近、朝の天気めっちゃ良くて気持ちいいんです。いつも写真にあるようなとこ歩いて、時たまネイチャーウォッチングしてます。
この大きな公園、家から5分ぐらいのとこにあります。みんながピクニックするようなきれいな公園ではないけど、歩いたり、鳥のさえずりを聞いたり、新鮮な空気を吸ったり、太陽をあびるのにはちょうどいい場所。

Handmade upcycled kimono blouse

I finally managed to sew this blouse (pullover), which I had cut the fabric at least 1 month ago.

It looks large on a clothes hanger, but it is fine when I actually wear it.
I just made this for myself, not for selling.
I want make more upcycled kimono tops and dresses, but I find it time consuming.
I can only sew it when I have lots of time. Now my husband is away, I have more time for myself...

1か月以上前に布はカットしてあったけど、やっと縫い上げました。
ハンガーにかかってると大きくみえますが、着てみるとちょうどいい。もちろんゆったりしたデザインなので余裕はたっぷりあるけど。
これは販売用でなく自分用です。
もっと着物をリメイク（リフォーム？）したトップやワンピースを作りたいけど、何せ時間がかかります。
時間がたっぷりある時だけできる。今ちょうど旦那さんがいないので、自分の時間がいつもよりあるのです。 

Casamia Paris, Sunnybank Hills, Brisbane

There are lots of asian restaurants around my neighbourhood, but hardly any good cafes (only chain ones that you see everywhere) And this cake shop (Casamia Paris) with small cafe space in Sunnybank Hills is only just over 5 min. drive from my home.

I went there today with my friend who lives near my house.
Both Mango mousse kind of cake I ordered and Chestnut and cream cake (Mont Blanc) my friend ordered had delicate flavour and slightly sweetened.

My friend took photo of me in toy photo mode. I don't like my face in the photo but I like the shot!


うちの近所にはアジア料理のお店はいくらでもあるけど、チェーン系列以外のカフェは皆無。でもこの小さなカフェスペースを併設したこのケーキショップは車で5分ちょっとで行ける距離なのです。

今日、お友達と一緒に行ってきました。私はマンゴソースのかかったムース系のケーキ（名前忘れた）、友達はモンブラン。どちらも甘さ控えめで繊細なお味でした。

友達がトイフォト　モードで私の写真をとってくれました。自分の顔は気にいらないけど、このノスタルジックな感じすごく好き～！

最近読んだ本

眉山　さだまさし：

映画にもなった小説。気風のいい江戸っ子のお母さんが泣かせてくれます。読みやすくてあっという間に読めてしまう。

彼女について　よしもとばなな：

結構暗い内容をよしもとばななのマジックでファンタジックで温かいストーリーに仕立てられています。

千利休　無言の前衛　赤瀬川原平：

茶道を始めたので手に取った本。これぞ茶道家！昔の茶道は今の型にはまった茶道とは全く違ってたようです。歴史に興味がある人にもおもしろい本。秀吉との比較も興味深い。

ルポ　貧困大国アメリカ　堤未果：

友達からもらった本。読み進めたらおもしろすぎて2日で完読。

おそろしいアメリカの現状を読むにつれて、日本の未来はいつも暗いと思ってたけど、まだましかもと思えた。医療、年金、教育なにもかも株主に左右されている現実。おーこわ。



The tree of life

I went to see "The tree of life" last Sunday.
This film won Palme d'Or at Cannes film festival this year.
Well, it was very unusual and a bit hard to undersatand (I guess lots of films won Palme d'Or are often like that), although cinematography was excellent. Definitely this is not the film for everyone but worth experience　an unconventional film for a change.

日曜日に"The tree of life"という映画を見てきました。
カンヌのパルムドールを受賞した話題作です。
えーと、カンヌのほかの映画にもたいてい共通するけど、かなり変わってて分かりにくい映画です。映像はとてもきれい。
好き嫌いが分かれる映画だけれど、変わった手法の映画なので見てみる価値はあるかな。 

Ian's birthday party

My husband turns to "40" tomorrow, so we had an early birthday party yesterday with our friends.
We were glad that everyone seemed to have a good time.

旦那さんが明日40歳になります。なので昨日（土曜日）少し早いけど誕生日パーティをしました。
みんな楽しんでくれたようで、私たちもうれしかったです。 

Macaron in Brisbane

My friend who learns kimono dressing from me brought me macaron.
It's very popular (it was?) in Japan, but I never got around to try it.
I just like the cute looks.

She said it is getting popular in Brisbane now. How late!
These are actually made by French bakery which has a stall at Farmaers Market, so should be authentic!


着付けを私から習っているお友達がマカロンを持ってきてくれました。
日本では人気（人気だった？）だけど、まだ食べたことがなかったのです。
見た目がなんともかわいいです。

彼女は、マカロンはようやくブリスベンでも人気になってきていると。遅い！
このマカロンはファーマーズマーケットに出店しているフレンチ・ベーカリーの方が作ったものなので、味は本物のはず。

PERSEPOLIS - autobiographical comic by Marjane Satrapi

Have you seen an animation film "PERSEPOLIS"?
The film was based on this graphic novel. We saw the film first, then read this book. (It was 70% off at Borders just before they closed down!)
As we have Iranian friends here in Australia, it is very interesting to read and know what was happening in Iran in 80'-90'.
And I just love the way she draws. Somehow very cute.
